"82nd COMBAT SECURITY POLICE WING"
Lineage - Honors - History

What started out as a inquiry about when the 82nd CSP Wing patch was established, ended up with some interesting facts.

John W Brokaw, PhD., Historian, Air Force Security Police Association, was gracious enough to offer his services in our quest.

First request letter for emblem to TAC & USAFMPC

Original drawing had "crossed muskets" like we have on our challenge coin
notice falcon facing east.

This letter from Inspector General's office gives us credits for being in RVN and suggests using a
symbol of origin, i.e., Vietnamese dragon or the red & yellow colors of the SVN flag

This letter from USAFMPC states they are taking away the "crossed muskets" because they are
insignia for U. S. Army

Unit designation not entered on original emblem

The preparer Helen Weaver evidently did not thoroughly investigate or she would have came up with our emblem approved in letter dated 20 October 1969
